Why mixed order matters

Many children can recite a table from start to finish but pause when asked a single fact like 7 × 6. They have memorised a sequence, so they count up from 7 × 1 each time. Asking facts out of order shows which ones your child knows on their own, and that is what makes division, fractions and word problems easier later.

Questions parents ask about the test

What does the free tables test check?

It asks 25 multiplication facts from tables 2 to 10 in mixed order, like 7 × 8 or 9 × 6. Mixed order shows whether your child really knows each fact, or can only recite the table from the start.

Which age or grade is the tables test for?

It is made for children in Grades 1 to 5 (about 6 to 11 years old). Younger children can try it too: the result shows which tables to practise first.

How long does the test take?

About 5 minutes. There is no countdown timer, but the result shows how long your child took, because quick recall is part of knowing tables well.

What is a good score on the tables test?

23 or more out of 25 means your child is a tables champion. 18 to 22 means almost there, with a few slow or shaky facts. Below 18 means the facts are not yet automatic, which is very common and easy to fix with short daily practice.

Is the tables test really free?

Yes. It is free, with no payment or sign-up fees. We ask for the parent's details so we can send the result by email and, if you like, suggest the right next step.

How can my child get better at tables?

Practise 5 to 10 minutes a day, start with the easy patterns (2, 5, 10), and ask facts in mixed order instead of reciting. Our Tables 1–10 Mastery program does this step by step in live online classes.
